Groesbeck, Mexia Chambers Bringing Hiring Fair to Navarro College-Mexia

About 25 employers will be looking for help at Navarro College’s Mexia Campus from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 27.
The fair will be sponsored by Texas Work Force Solutions and the Mexia Area and Groesbeck Chambers of Commerce. Job-seekers will be able to meet one-on-one with interviewers, and that could result in immediate hires.
“There will be various businesses represented there, some manufacturing, some state jobs, correctional jobs, schools, health care facilities of various types and more,” said Traci LaFoy, executive director of the Mexia Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are trying to bridge the gap between our towns and county and get people back to work.”
This is the second fair the state agency and the chambers have staged in Limestone
County. The first was Nov. 16, 2023, in Groesbeck at the Convention Center. They plan to sponsor two fairs per year, switching back and forth between Mexia and Groesbeck.
LaFoy said the first fair was a success with 26 employers and 103 jobseekers taking part.
“It’s a great time to bring people together in one location and try to help connect workers to jobs in Limestone County,” she said.
Navarro College-Mexia Assistant Dean Christina Mims offered the campus as a possible site for the Mexia fair, and the sponsors gratefully accepted, LaFoy said.
“We all met there and agreed the space would work,” she said. “It is a great opportunity to bring employers and job seekers together, but to also give people an opportunity to be on campus. If they have ever thought of returning to college or taking any continuing education classes, it gives them a chance to inquire while they are there. It’s a great partnership.”
Mims said she is anticipating a successful event.
“I am excited to join with the Mexia and Groesbeck chambers and HOT Workforce in hosting the upcoming job fair,” she said. ”I heard there was a great turnout at the previous fair held in Groesbeck last fall so I anticipate we will have a great crowd.”
