K9 Java joins force
The Groesbeck Police Department recently added one to their force with the announcement of K9 Java to our community.
K9 Java and her partner, Officer Brad Martin, graduated from K9 Handler and Criminal Interdiction training on the morning of Fri. June 12. The training was provided free of charge by Sector K9 Foundation.
K9 Java is originally a rescue animal from Canada 21. She was transferred to the National Canine Center in Florida before being acquired by Sector K9 via the Animal Farm Foundation. She is three years old and served a short time with the Italy Police Department before joining the Groesbeck PD.
Officer Martin is excited to have K9 Java as his partner and looks forward to introducing her to the community.
Groesbeck Police Department recently retired K9 Opal in mid-March of this year. Opal also served under Officer Brad Martin was transferred from the city to the ownership of Martin. No longer a working dog, Opal was medically retired after three years due to the development of arthritis.
