Limestone County jail passes surprise inspection

Game wardens, deputies arrest two for drug possession

The Limestone County jail was surprised in late June by an unannounced inspection by the Texas Jail Commission, and the good news is the jail passed the inspection.

“She conducted an annual jail inspection and spent the majority of the day going through cells, files, equipment and various details,” Sheriff Dennis Wilson said of the inspector in a Facebook post.

Subsequently, Wilson commended his jail staff with a letter in which he praised his employees for the work required to pass the test.

Each of you is aware of the seriousness of this jail inspection, he told them.

“She was very complimentary of our staff and the many areas of our jail operations where we must be in full compliance with all the jail standards,” Wilson wrote of the inspector. “We all also know that this is a daily process that each of you work hard at every day. Each of you remains a vital part of the LCSO operations and I commend you for your efforts.”

In a separate matter, Limestone County Game wardens Rinn and Delgado were patrolling below the Lake Mexia Dam spillway on June 28 when they noticed two men fishing. When the game wardens approached the men, they noticed drug paraphernalia with their fishing gear as well as methamphetamine and marijuana. Two Limestone County deputies soon arrived and took the men into custody, transporting them to the Limestone County jail, where the men were charged for drug possession.
