File for Candidacy in Local Elections Before Deadline

You still have time to get on the ballot in local elections scheduled for May 4. 
This year's elections include positions such as mayor, city council, hospital, and school board, and the deadline for entries is Friday, Feb. 16 at 5 p.m.
Currently, only a few candidates have signed up for the various positions, and there is still plenty of time for interested individuals to throw their hat in the ring. Entries are being accepted in person at the local offices of each entity.
In the City of Groesbeck, positions available for the campaign include mayor and three council positions. As of now, only incumbents Councilperson Tamikia Jackson and Mayor Matthew Dawley have signed up to run for reelection, and newcomers Marcus McGruder, Pamela Gonner, and Dayne Duncan have filed to run for council. If you are interested in running for any of the positions, you may file your application in person at the City Secretary’s Office located at 402 W. Navasota in Groesbeck.
The Groesbeck Independent School District has three districts up for election, which are currently held by Tom Sutton, Jason Milstead, and Board President Aslone Foy respectively. Currently signed up to run for District 3 is newcomer Sindra McLean, and incumbents Jason Milstead and Aslone Foy for Districts 4 and 5. If you are interested in running for any of the positions, you may file your application in person at Groesbeck I.S.D. Administration Office located at 1202 N. Ellis in Groesbeck.
In the City of Kosse, the mayor and three council positions are up for election. Currently, only incumbents are on file to run, including Mayor Brooks Valls and Councilmembers Todd Freeman, Ronnie Funderburk, and Kelli Eno. If you are interested in running for any of the positions, you may file your application in person at the City Secretary's Office located at 100 N. Narcissus St. in Kosse.
The City of Thornton has two council positions and a mayoral race. Currently on file to run for the mayoral race are Paul Miller and Carla Robison. Councilmember incumbents Debbie Masters and JR Noel and newcomer Debra Wells have filed to run. If you are interested in running for any of the positions, you may file your application in person at the City of Thornton offices located at 708 Highway 14, in Thornton.
Lastly, the South Limestone Hospital District has four board positions up for election, three of which are currently held by Tyrell Hobbs, Martha Stanton, and Kent Wilson. One position is currently vacant.
Filing will be conducted at the chief executive officer’s office of Limestone Medical Center, 701 McClintic Drive, Groesbeck, Texas 76642.  Filing may be done from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
