Menzel headed to Regionals

Kayla Menzel will be headed to the Regional Track Meet at Waco Midway on Friday, April 23, and Saturday, April 24, for the Lady Goats after advancing from the Area Track Meet in Crockett on Wednesday, April 14.

Menzel grabbed third place in both the 800m run and the 1600m run. She ran the 800m run with a time of 2:32.65 and the 1600m run with a time of 5:59.68.

“Kayla Menzel’s outing at the area meet truly showed her character, her love for competition, and what type of person she truly is.”

“She got to the area track meet about two minutes before her first event. Her parents had driven her from Stephenville where she was competing at an area horse judging competition,” Coach Alice Keeton said. “She jogged to the starting line without even being able to warm up for her race. Kayla’s determination, hard work and will to be the best she can be is obvious in everything she does. I will truly miss having her so much in our athletic program.”

Menzel will be graduating in May as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2021 as well.

“Dedicated and determined would describe this young lady,” Assistant Coach Lori Kelley said. “She ran with heart and determination at the area meet.”
