Sales tax returns in Bistone counties mostly in the black

The December sales tax returns in the Bistone counties are still mainly in the black, with Mexia still down less than a percentage point and Coolidge down more than 6 percentage points for the month for Limestone County. Both cities, however, are still positive for their year-to-date figures. Teague was the only city in the negative for Freestone County, and by more than 10 percent, but the city was also the only Freestone city in negative territory year to date, at more than 6 percent.

As for Limestone County’s cities:

Mexia received $227,130 in December, a decrease of .72 percent from last December, when the city received $228,799. Year to date, Mexia has received $2,864,979, an increase of .54 percent over December 2019, when the city had received $2,849,559 year to date.

Groesbeck received $73,449 in December, an increase of 14.48 percent over last December, when the city received $64,154. Year to date, Groesbeck has received $898,549, an increase of 10.64 percent over last year at this time, when the city had received $812,099 year to date.

Kosse received $14,747 in December, an increase of 21.16 percent over last year at this time, when the town received $12,171. Year to date, Kosse has received $146,022, an increase of 13.19 percent over last year at this time, when the town had received $129,006.

Thornton received $2,947 in December, an increase of a whopping 66.14 percent over December 2019, when the town received $1,774. Year to date, Thornton has received $27,114, an increase of 33.21 percent over last year at this time, when the town had received $20,354 year to date.

Coolidge received $2,647 in December, a drop of 5.63 percent from last December, when the town received $2,805. Year to date, Coolidge has received $36,034, an increase of 11.17 percent from last December, when the town had received $32,412 year to date.

As for the cities of Freestone County, Fairfield received $166,724, an increase of 20.05 percent from December 2019, when the city received $138,869. Year to date, Fairfield has received $1,797,502, an increase of 1.77 percent over last year at this time, when the city had received $1,766,144 year to date.

Teague received $47,325 in December, a decrease of 10.13 percent from last December, when the city received $52,662. Year to date, Teague has received $595,924, a drop of 6.48 percent from last year at this time, when the city had received $637,273 year to date.

Wortham received $13,277 in December, an increase of 8.86 percent over last December when the town received $12,197. Year to date, Wortham has received $186,850, an increase of 14.06 percent over December 2019, when the town had received $163,817 year to date.

Streetman received $7,588 in December, an increase of 33.14 percent over last December, when the community received $5,699. Year to date, Streetman has received $68,033, an increase of 3.48 percent over December 2019, when Streetman had received $65,744 year to date.
