Teen arrested in stabbing of family member

A 15-year old male was arrested on Sunday afternoon after a stabbing that left one person injured at a home in Groesbeck.

Calls of a disturbance with a weapon in the 700 block of East Walker Street was received at 3:27 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20. The caller indicated a juvenile family member stabbed an adult family member and then fled the scene.

Officer Cardenas arrived first on scene and rendered medical assistance pending the arrival of Limestone Medical Center EMS and Groesbeck Fire Department First Responders.

Chief Henson and Officer Cardenas then left the scene, located the juvenile suspect, and took the juvenile suspect into custody.

After on scene investigation, the juvenile suspect was transported to Van Zandt County where he was charged with a first-degree felony assault.

The victim, the suspect’s step-parent, was taken to a local hospital. Information about their condition wasn’t released at the time of press.
