The Texas House approved an elections bill Friday along party lines with 21 Democrats declining to participate. The bill, slightly different from previously passed Senate legislation, now heads a conference committee that will negotiate a final version.
Roger and Linda Watson, Ann Brown, Elizabeth Neason, Snuffy Bennett, Wayne Sharp, Doris Lemley, James Lenamond, Ronnie Lenamond, Gayla Lind, Glenda Gambini, Earl Mask, Fonetta Simmons, Wilma Lee, Janice Bilbrey and I gathered for the fun, food and fellowship at Senior Citizens on Thursday. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits and were enjoying themselves.
Thornton Chamber of Commerce hosted its very first ever Annual Tribute to Thornton Cornhole and Texas 42 tournaments on Sat. Aug. 21 at the Thornton Slab. Many people gathered to enter the tournament and try their hand at 42 and cornhole for cash payouts and trophies. Fish plates were also sold.
The center was buzzing Thursday, sounded like a bunch of bees, Everyone was talking, laughing and having a great time. We had Home Health ladies come and take our blood pressures and they brought some very nice and thoughtful prizes for our bingo players. Thank you Kim Sheppard and Sindra McLean. Those present being, Ann Brown, Roger and Linda Watson, Lorene Stembridge, Alma McCurry, Snuffy Bennett, Fonetta Simmons, Wayne Sharp, Earl Mask, Elle and Hank Staniszewski and their 4 yr. old grandson, Noah Scott, Wilma Lee, Neennah German, Janice Bilbrey, site mgr., Donna Lloyd visiting back with us from Huntsville, and myself. Donna moved there recently and is greatly missed at our center and the LMC Volunteers as well. She also came to attend funeral of Rita Turgeon before our lunch as well as several others of we Seniors attended. Sympathy to the Turgeon family.
