Limestone Medical Center will begin telephone visits for established patients beginning Monday, March 23rd. The service is being offered to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Services covered by phone include medication refills, symptoms of rashes, sore throat, fever, sinuses, stomach issues, and bladder infections. Groesbeck Mayor Ray O'Docharty issued a Declaration of Local State of Disaster for the City of Groesbeck this morning in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. While there are no confirmed cases in Limestone County, Mayor O'Docharty issued the declaration acknowledging the public health emergency and indicating the city's commitment to abiding by the directives and executive orders of the Governor as we work to prevent the spread of this disease. There are no new restrictions put in place at this time. It above mentioned merely declares the disaster and indicates the city will abide by the directives and executive orders of the Governor.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Texas announced the indictment of Cedric Ellis, 45, of Mexia, for possession of, and intent to distribute, nearly 32 pounds of cocaine. A federal grand jury returned the indictment March 18, and U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown made the announcement Friday, March 20, after Ellis appeared in federal court in Texarcana. Ellis will remain in custody until the case is resolved.
