Battle of the River (Groesbeck vs. Mexia) 9/22/23
The Mexia foobtall team got behind in the first quarter and never recovered in the Battle of the Navasota River at Groesbeck on Friday night, Sept. 22.
Groesbeck jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the first nine and a half minutes and cruised to a 30-9 victory over the Blackcats in front of a capacity crowd at Groesbeck Stadium.
It was the second consecutive year the Goats defeated the Blackcats in the rivalry game. It was also the first District 20-3A contest for both teams.
