Fatal Crash on SH-164 Claims Life of Conroe Man

A Conroe man was killed early Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash west of Groesbeck, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

At approximately 2:50 a.m., DPS Troopers responded to a collision on State Highway 164 near County Road 396. A preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound crossed into the westbound lane and struck a truck tractor semi-trailer head-on.

The driver of the Silverado, identified as 22-year-old Dawson Chandler of Conroe, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waco.

Authorities have confirmed that Chandler’s next of kin has been notified. DPS reports that the investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing.
