One man dead after single-vehicle crash on FM 39

LIMESTONE COUNTY - A single-vehicle fatal crash occurred Friday, Feb. 25 on FM 39 near milepost 354, southeast of Mexia in Limestone County around 4:50 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to the scene as well as Limestone Co. Sheriff Dept. 

According to TX DPS Sergeant Ryan Howard, “a preliminary investigation discovered a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling southbound drove onto the wrong side of the road and left the roadway. The driver attempted to drive back onto the roadway, overcorrecting and causing the vehicle to overturn, ejecting the driver. The driver, Arthur Rancher, 43, of Thornton, was pronounced dead at the scene.” 

Next of kin have been notified. The investigation is active and ongoing.

“One of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make when inside a vehicle is to buckle up,” said DPS Sergeant Ryan Howard,  “Wearing your seat belt can reduce the risk of injury or death when involved in a crash.”
