Boil Water Advisory Issued For Part Of Groesbeck Due To Water Main Break Tuesday

A service interruption caused by a water main break on North Ellis Street in front of the High Maintenance Hair Salon and Boutique is impacting customers on the west side of the city starting at the railroad tracks and spanning from Cypress Street down to the south city limits. See attached map for reference.

The leak was detected on Tuesday, June 14 in the afternoon and city employees were seen working on the site throughout the afternoon and evening.

All citizens impacted by the service interruption are asked to boil their water prior to consumption. (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc.) Children, seniors and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all impacted citizens should follow these directions.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from other suitable sources for human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, a public water system official will notify citizens that the water is safe for human consumption purposes.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Public Works Director Keith Tilley at 254-729-3293, or City Administrator Chris Henson at 254-729-3497.
