Groesbeck Enters Stage 1 of Drought Contingency Plan

The City of Groesbeck is implementing Stage 1 of the drought contingency plan, effective Wednesday, July 24.

Like many other cities, the ongoing higher-thannormal temperatures and the lack of rainfall have made it necessary to implement the plan. Additionally, consumer use has increased. On average, the city water plant has to produce approximately 500,000 gallons per day to meet demand, but the current demand is approximately 650,000 gallons per day.

To plan to reduce the strain on our water plant and resources through city water customers’ voluntary efforts.

During Stage 1 conservation efforts, water customers are asked to: Limit outdoor watering to twice per week between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Residences on the WEST side of the railroad tracks may water on Wednesday and Saturday.

Residences on the EAST side of the railroad tracks may water on Thursday and Sunday.

Limit the use of water to hand wash vehicles Refrain from using water to wash sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, streets, and other impervious surfaces.

Refrain from using water to wash buildings, houses, or structures if only for aesthetic purposes.

These water restrictions are voluntary under Stage 1. If the weather pattern continues, the City will implement Stage 2, including more detailed, mandatory restrictions.
