AREA CHAMPS: Goats defeat Whitney, advance in playoffs

WACO — The Groesbeck Goats are moving on in the Class 3A boys basketball playoffs, as they defeated Whitney 55-48 Friday to advance.
The Goats broke open a tight, back-and-forth battle by delivering under pressure in the fourth quarter. Junior forward Braden Hurt had six of his team-leading 16 points in the final frame, and Allen Lewis, Anthony Lewis, and Ca’Zian Bradley all had clutch three-pointers.
Groesbeck has now won seven games in a row. The Goats will play the winner of Crockett-Lorena next week in the Region III quarterfinals.
