Prison Bus Crashes Near Groesbeck, All Inmates Accounted For
A prison bus overturned on Hwy 164 just east of FM 3371 near Groesbeck this morning involving more than 30 Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmates, Groesbeck Police Chief Chris Henson told The Groesbeck Journal.
"All occupants are accounted for and there is NO threat to the public," Henson confirmed.
Motorists are advised to avoid and seek alternative routes due to the one-vehicle trash.
First responders were on the scene of the incident. According to staff at Limestone Medical Center, alerts came to the hospital around 9:46 a.m. for the incident. The Groesbeck Journal witnessed three ambulances unloading patients at the hospital.
"First Responders are on the scene of a major, one-vehicle crash involving an overturned prison bus on SH 164 East just east of FM 3371," Henson said. "East and westbound lanes have been closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes."
