Texas Game Warden: Water Safety Reminder

Limestone County Game Wardens Dylan Wallace and Thomas Rinn want to remind everyone to be prepared and stay safe as they enjoy the upcoming 4th of July Holiday Weekend on the Lakes and other waterways.

WEAR A LIFE JACKET while in/ near water if weak or non-swimmer.

Please double check that there is at least one US Coast Guard approved wearable life jacket/ personal floatation device for each person on board before your boat is on the water.

Inflatable life jackets are authorized only when used according to the instructions on US Coast Guard approval labels.

Make sure children under 13 years old are wearing/ secured in an approved life jacket while your boat is underway. (Underway means not at anchor, made fast to the shore, or aground.)

Wear emergency engine cut-off switch lanyard while operating your boat at greater than headway speed.

Plan ahead to have a sober boat operator and vehicle driver if drinking alcohol.

Be mindful of other motorboats, jet skis, canoes and kayaks, as well as people in the water swimming near the County Parks and other Local Parks as you are enjoying your recreational boating or skiing.

Keep an eye on young children playing in/ near the water!

Also especially remember to stay hydrated as the temperatures are high this summer!
