Citizens on Patrol

Groesbeck Police Department has been fortunate to have a full roster of police officers and the support of the community for many years. As the department is now short two officers, with a third vacancy expected in December, Police Chief Chris Henson is hoping that their community support will come through in a new way; by individuals stepping up to be “the eyes and ears” for the PD on a part-time, volunteer basis with Citizens on Patrol (CoP).

Groesbeck Enters Stage 1 Of Drought Contingency Plan

The City of Groesbeck is implementing Stage 1 of the drought contingency plan, effective Wednesday, July 24.

Like many other cities, the ongoing higher-than-normal temperatures and the lack of rainfall have made it necessary to implement the plan. Additionally, consumer use has increased. On average, the city water plant has to produce approximately 500,000 gallons per day to meet demand, but the current demand is approximately 650,000 gallons per day.

GISD Armed To Protect

Last year the Groesbeck ISD school board watched the devastation of schools across the country being forced to prepare for the unthinkable – the potential of a school shooting and considered appropriate policies. The Board updated local policy, authorizing a School Safety “Guardian” Program (TX Govt. Code 411.1901). Its purpose is to provide students and faculties an armed selfdefense option prior to the arrival of Law Enforcement in the event of an active shooter or “active killer” on campus.
