SEPTEMBER 8 Family Fun Day/ Paws for a Cause - Confederate Reunion Grounds partnered with LARAS House for a FIRST ever 1 Mile Dog Walk & a Pet Parade with Prizes! Donations are being accepted for LARAS House. LARAS House will also be on site for animal adoptions. Pre-registration forms are available on the Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site Facebook Page. Registration will begin at 8:30 am. The 1-mile walk will begin at 9:00 am and the Pet Parade will begin at 10:00 am. Please remember that pets must remain on the lease at all times and need to be current on vaccinations.

SEPTEMBER 10 The Joy of Living Women’s Bible Study starts again in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church in Groesbeck on Mondays, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. This year, we begin with a 7-week study of the Book of Esther, before moving into the New Testament to study Acts. This is a wonderful study that will encourage your heart and build your faith. Joy of Living is a non-denominational Bible study that welcomes all women interested in learning more about God’s Word and sharing Christian fellowship. SEPTEMBER 11 9/11 SERVICE PLANNED - American Legion Post 288 will host a memorial and prayer service to commemorate the anniversary of the 9/11 attack on this country on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:45 a.m. on the front (north) side of the courthouse. While the details are still being planned, participation is hoped for from firefighters, law enforcement, churches and anyone who would like to share thoughts or feelings what they were doing when they heard the news, or how the event has impacted their lives. Victory Baptist Church will be holding a garage sale from 9am - 4pm! Money raised through the garage sale will go toward Operation Christmas Child, a project that sends necessities from toiletries to school supplies to children in need all over the world. VBC will focus on sending boxes of shoes that grow and change up to 5 times, extending the life of the shoe; their goal is 180 pairs. Donations are also welcome! Stop by and shop for a good cause.

The Class of 1953 will be celebrating their 65th reunion on Saturday this year and plan to meet after the parade at the Civic Center for the Homecoming Barbecue luncheon. We will try to have a table for our class and hope everyone will come and enjoy the fellowship and share memories of past School Days!
