Groesbeck Lions Club hears talk by local Game Warden
The Groesbeck Lions Club had a very interesting program at its meeting on Wednesday, August 17. The speaker was Thomas Rene, a game warden in Limestone County. He discussed the activities of a game warden in the Limestone County area. He pointed out that the fall hunting season will be coming up soon.

Chapter 18 of 1 Kings gives the account of the Prophet Elijah and Ahab, King of Israel. Because of the wickedness in the land, God had instructed Elijah to prophesy a drought on the land. Because of the dry weather, Ahab looked throughout the land for Elijah. I suppose he intended to squeeze a new prophecy from him.

As we approach Labor Day, the unofficial end of summer, consumers are looking to take advantage of the holiday. Some will look for the best Labor Day sales, while others will be taking vacations (or staycations) to have one last bit of summer fun.
Veteran’s grave marker placed by American Legion
On August 20th, members of American Legion Post 288 of Groesbeck place a Veteran’s grave marker for Autrey Gene Lenamond. Gene passed away in April, but due to Covid-19, the funeral home in Baytown was not able to place the marker. Gene is interred at Cobb Cemetery in Thornton.
