4th of July activities coming together for Groesbeck

Parade time and other activities moved to afternoon/evening(

Numerous activities are planned for Groesbeck to celebrate the 2019 observance of the 4th of July. For on July 4, 1776, the American colonies declared its independence from the British Empire and the United States of America was established.

The Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce has activities planned to celebrate the 4th of July. The Chamber activities are planned for later in the day on this very special holiday.

However, the Methodist Men’s Fellowship of the First United Methodist Church of  Groesbeck will begin the day with its traditional  4th of July Pancake Breakfast. The breakfast will be in the MAC Building on West Navasota Street. The hours will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Also, the Limestone County Historic Museum will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on July 4th. The Museum is located on West Navasota Street in downtown Groesbeck.

The Groesbeck Swimming Pool in the Groesbeck City Park will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 4th.  Admission is $2.00

Chamber of Commerce Events

The Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce the activities it has planned for Groesbeck for the celebration of the 4th of July.

This year, the July 4th parade will be at 5 p.m. with 4 p.m. being the lineup time for the parade. The parade will be in downtown Groesbeck. Contact Lisa Stewart to have an entry in the parade.

At 4:15 p.m. judging for the Patriotic Bicycle/Wagon/ATV contest will be conducted at the Parade Line-up area -- no sign up necessary.

5 p.m. -- Parade

Patriotic Bicycle Contest Awards will be given directly after the parade at the Parkette (Navasota/Highway 14 intersection).

From 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. several events will be held at the Groesbeck City Park. These events include Arts & Crafts, Carnival Games, and Face Painting.

At 6:30 p.m. the Patriotic Pet Contest will be held.

A watermelon seed spitting contest will be at 7 p.m. 

The traditional July 4th fireworks display will be held at dark at the baseball field area adjacent to the Groesbeck City Park. Fireworks display will be presented by Jay’s Fireworks which is owned by Jay and Jean Smith. 

Pancake Breakfast

The Methodist Men’s Fellowship of the Groesbeck First United Methodist Church will once again have its July 4th Pancake Breakfast.

The Pancake Breakfast will be held in the Methodist Activities Center (The MAC Building) from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The MAC Building is located on West Navasota Street in downtown Groesbeck.

The menu will include pancakes, bacon or sausage, coffee, and juice. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 11 or under. Tickets may be purchased at the Church office or from various Methodist Men. The proceeds go toward various church and community projects undertaken by the group.

Limestone County Historical Museum

The Limestone County Historical Museum will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on July 4th. The Museum is located on  West Navasota Street in downtown Groesbeck.

During June and July, the Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Friday. The Museum is also open each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the year. There is no charge to visit the Museum. However, donations are greatly appreciated.
