Ferguson and Burleson take Groesbeck school board trustee seats

The votes are in from the twenty-one polling location across Limestone County on election day.

In the Groesbeck ISD Trustee At-Large election, there were two positions to be filled, each with 3-year terms.

Before the election, a total of 6,141 voted early by personal appearance in Limestone County. The county also received 719 mail-in ballots. "This is the largest number of early votes in the county since I've been working the elections,” stated Limestone County Election Administrator Jennifer Southard.

In early voting, Tiffany Burleson and Ronnie Ferguson took to the lead with Ferguson gaining 30.69 percent and Burleson 26.31 percent. Jason Pringle showed an early voting totals of 23.11 percent while Mika Morgan had 19.89 percent.

That same notion proved to prevail as the end result gained both Burleson and Ferguson the seats on the GISD Board of Trustees with Ferguson having 31.71 percent, 1.811 votes, and Burleson 25.59 percent, 1.456 votes.

Tiffany Burleson was humbled by the turnout and pledged to prove the right choice was made.

“Thank you Groesbeck for putting your trust in me. I look forward to serving you and our children,” stated Burleson. “I am humbled and extremely grateful for the confidence that you have placed in my abilities to serve. I will work tirelessly to make sure you made the right choice.”

Jason Pringle trailed the winners with 23.59 percent, 1,247 votes, and Mika Morgan 19.21 percent, 1,097 votes.
