Forestry mulching demonstration scheduled at LS Ranch April 15-17
A forestry mulching demonstration will be open for the public and interested ranchers at LS Ranch April 15, 16 and 17. Located three miles east of Groesbeck on SH 164, rancher owners will be utilizing forestry mulching to clear brush and trees on fence lines and other designated areas.
Mulching using a skid loader and mulching attachment is a relatively new land clearing process that is much less costly and labor intensive than previous methods. Larry and Charles Smith have cleared lands before, burning piles and restoring it after bulldozer work.
Mulching is a once over operation with the mulch remaining on top for soil enrichment.
Larry has used mulching in preparation for commercial developments in the Dallas area, and will be present to answer questions and provide expertise. Landowners and others interested in observing a portion of the operation and learning more about forestry mulching are invited to email the LS Ranch at larrypsmith37@gmail.com or call 817-909-7070.
All respondents will be offered the opportunity to select their best day and time to observe the mulching operation. Scheduled days and times will be arranged in advance.
All COVID-19 will be strictly adhered to. Scheduled days and times will be arranged in advance.
Moving the equipment is costly and due to its current location in Limestone County, landowners are encouraged to inquire about using the equipment to mulch in the following week.
“LS Ranch will receive no benefit or financial remuneration if any jobs are contracted,” Larry said. “Our only interest lies in offering others an opportunity to observe the mulching operation and save on their landclearing costs.”
