Groesbeck Journal To Host Reception For Tom Hawkins, 2023 Homecoming Parade Marshall

The Groesbeck Ex-Students have chosen Tom Hawkins as the 2023 Parade Homecoming Parade Marshall. Sometimes known as ‘Mr. Homecoming’ Tom Hawkins has been a long-time citizen of the community and involved in all organizations and boards as well as was the previous owner and Editor Emeritus of the Groesbeck Journal. Tom has a true love for homecoming and it has always been one of his favorite times of the year.

On Friday, Sept. 15 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. a homecoming reception for Homecoming Parade Marshall Tom Hawkins will be held at the Groesbeck Journal, 115 N. Ellis, Groesbeck. Come enjoy refreshments and visit with Mr. Hawkins. Tours of the old Linotypes and the press will be available during this time.

If you miss him at the reception, you might find him a the Groesbeck Masonic Lodge’s Stew Supper at GHS til around 5:45 p.m. (Masonic event goes til 7 p.m.) before he has to get to the field.

Mr. Hawkins will be honored in the pregame ceremony on Friday and also in the homecoming parade on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Groesbeck.

He also plans to attend the Groesbeck Ex-Students Homecoming lunch on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Groesbeck Convention Center, 106 E. Navasota.
