Limestone Medical recognizes outstanding employees

The Limestone Medical Center recently hosted its annual Employee Recognition Banquet and Award Ceremony at Central Baptist Church in Thornton Saturday, Jan. 25. CEO Larry Price served as master of ceremonies as employees with two, five, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service to the hospital were honored. Joe Friday’s provided a delicious chicken fried steak dinner.

“The New Year will bring new opportunities as well as challenges,” Price stated. Some of the highlights of 2019 included that the Kosse Clinic is up and going, the 340B pharmacy program was implemented and is already providing benefits to our patients, the wound care program received the Center of Excellence Award, the laboratory passed the COLA survey, we received the hospital Quality Improvement Silver Award from the Texas Mutual Foundation, purchasing a new ambulance and recipient of the Texas Department of Agriculture Capital Improvement Grant for $75,000.

The LMC Volunteers, LMC Foundation and LMC Board of Directors were recognized for their service to the Hospital and to the community. These three groups work tirelessly on behalf of the hospital. Price noted the fund raising efforts of the Volunteers and Foundation and the decisions made by the Board of Directors.

“They all have the best interests of our Hospital and patients we serve in mind,” Price said. “We are very fortunate to have such a strong group of hospital volunteers, foundation members and Hospital Board members.”

Marsha Taylor was the sole employee honored for 25 years, while Steve Hicks, Magdalena Ivison and Mary Turrubiarte each received 20-year honors. Jennifer Haynie celebrates 15 years with Limestone Medical Center.

Price recounted several humorous stories to the amusement of attendees. Addressing the audience in a serious tone, Price said that “as the LMC employees are recognized, each of our clinics, FMC, Rettig Clinic and Kosse are considered as departments of the hospital. All are LMC employees. We have a lot of long tenured employees. We have the best employees and state of the art equipment. As we honor each employee tonight, you will hear of the duties/roles that they perform to make our Hospital the best,” he said. “Even with state of the art equipment, without competent, qualified staff all we would have is a bright shiny new gadget. We are only as good as our employees.”

Those involved expressed appreciation for the LMC Foundation for underwriting gift cards. The Board of Directors includes President Danny Hewitt, Vice President Martha Staton, Secretary/Treasurer Glenda O’Neal, Arnold Gray, Chet Seelinger, Dona Waller and Jack Milstead.
