Those wanting to have fun and also benefit a good cause will want to check out the WalkerStrong Initiative fundraiser in Groesbeck this weekend, hosted by MAG (Mutual Assistance Group).
The Groesbeck Lions Club will present its 23rd Annual Groesbeck Lions Car Show on Saturday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Groesbeck City Park. The awards will be presented at 2:00 p.m.
The total precipitation including the snowmelt water equivalent for January in Groesbeck was 4.5 inches. The total precipitation for February was 1.25 inches. Most of that was in the form of melted freezing rain, sleet, and snow. The total rainfall for March was .94 inches.
AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bills 2 and 3 into law to reform the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and weatherize and improve the reliability of the state’s power grid. Governor Abbott made ERCOT reform and weatherization of the power system emergency items this past session. The Governor was joined for the bill signing by Representative Chris Paddie and Senators Kelly Hancock and Charles Schwertner.
A celebration of life for David Isaac Simmons, a Freestone County tow-truck operator killed while on the job, will be held Saturday, June 12. Simmons’ last ride will start at 10 a.m. from the Texas Towing yard in Mexia to The Depot X in Fairfield where services will be held.
