National Day of Prayer Observed in Kosse
The National Day of Prayer was observed in Kosse on Thursday, May 4. Close to 50 people gathered at the pavilion at First United Methodist Church to pray for the United States on a windy May day. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Josh Garland, a local boy scout. A congregational prayer for the nation was begun by Rev. Dr. Rita Sims, pastor of First United Methodist Church. Brooks Valls, a community leader and member of First United Methodist Church, prayed for the nation's leaders. Ricky Waller, the youth pastor at First Baptist Church of Kosse, offered prayer for the military. Local and nationwide schools were remembered in prayer by Sandy Neal, a teacher at Groesbeck High School and a member of First United Methodist Church.
