Boyd to play in THSBCA Class 2A-4A All-Star baseball game
The Groesbeck Goats will be represented at the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (THSBCA) 2017 Class 2A-4A All-Star game that will be played on Saturday, June 17 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, with first pitch slated to be throw at 10 a.m.
Recent senior graduate, Chandler Boyd, has been chosen to play for the South team at shortstop.
Boyd was recently named to the 19-3A All-District team as Co-District MVP.
This past season, he batted .429 with 45 hits and 14 doubles, all of which led the team in those offensive categories in helping the Goats to a first place finish in District 19-3A and as a regional finalist in this year’s Class 3A UIL baseball playoffs. Boyd was also one of the top pitchers for coach Cameron Sellstrom’s pitching staff, recording a 1.65 ERA in 59.1 innings of work, striking out 69 (No. 1 on the team) batters while compiling a record of 6-2 for the season.
