GST wins big at Franklin Track Club meet
Groesbeck Summer Track team continues to make huge strides as the 2017 T.A.A.F. Region 5 Regional Meet gets closer.
The 4x100 meter relay team (Ricky Rhodes, Ombry Jones, Detrick Smith and C.J. Henderson) finished strong last week at the Texas Greyhound Track Meet in Temple, with a time of one-minute flat. This week in Franklin, they (Trent Platt, Jones, Smith and Henderson) shaved three seconds off their time, crossing the finish line in 57 seconds flat.
GST had two athletes finish in second place in the long jump, Ma’Qua Smith (15’6) and Braylon Amos (14’3).
In the 50-meter dash, Ke’Naijah Smith placed first and in the 100-meter dash, seven athletes won first place in their age divisions, which included Henderson, Ke’Naijah Smith, Detrick Smith, Aiden Ray, Mahoganie Washington, Rhodes and Platt. Ma’Qua Smith came in second in the event and Mateo Spivey had a third-place finish.
In the 200-meter dash, GST had a 1, 2, 3 finish with Jones leading the way in first-place, Rhodes second and Henderson third.
In the 400-meter run, Rhodes came in first and Jones crossed the line in second-place.

Mateo Spivey, 6th with a jump of 12'5
Ma'Qua Smith-2nd place with a jump of 15’6
Braylon Amos-2nd, with a jump of 14'3
Also, participating in the long jump are, Detrick Smith, Trent Platt, Kingston Davis, and Kiethan Davis
Ke'Naijah Smith-st place
Aiden Ray-6th place
