Watermelon Bowl kicks Goat season into play
Is anybody ready for some football? Coach Steve Hale and the Groesbeck Goats are! Under a half moon and a clear, cloudless sky, the red versus white scrimmage was held Saturday at G.H.S. Stadium. Hot as the turf, the Groesbeck Goats are coming off a scorching 2016 season. I asked Coach Hale what will make this year's team better than 2016's? He answered, "Experience!" With six offensive and six defensive starters returning, Coach Hale said, "Year two in the system develops a greater understanding among the players. We are physical, disciplined, and experienced. This year we want to set a higher standard and an overall goal to have our name on a gold football." Last year the 9-3A Division I Goats finished with a five and six record under Coach Hale. Having helped lead La Marque to a state title, Coach Hale is no stranger to success. Fans of Groesbeck, young and old, enjoyed the sun, fun, and watermelon to kick off this year's 2017 Groesbeck Goat football season!
