The August heat is expected to bear down on Central Texas this week with no rain in the long-range forecast. However, a large part of the summer has been less hot with a little more rain than normal. Keith Tilley reports 33.05 inches of rain for Groesbeck thus far in 2017.
Believe it or not it is almost time for the beginning of school for the Groesbeck Independent School District.
The first day of school for the GISD is August 28, 2017, and the last day of school is May 31, 2018. The school calendar and the school supply list have appeared in the Journal.
The story in last week’s Journal on Rainwater Farms in Kosse was most interesting. Kenda Echols and her family are raising tomatoes which are grown hydroponically.
Several Journal readers have stated that they are eager to try these tomatoes.
Groesbeck Goat football is now underway. The Goats will scrimmage the Connally Cadets on this Friday here in Groesbeck. The Varsity will scrimmage at 7 p.m. and the JV at 5:30 p.m.
The Goats will scrimmage Mabank at Mabank on August 25, with the same time schedule.
The Goat open the regular season on Friday, August 1, against the McGregor Bulldogs in McGregor. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
