Shepherd Sayings

By Pastor Jack, Kosse Baptist Church

Jesus ate with a Pharisee and taught him a lesson about love. (Luke 7:36-50) At the meal there were three totally different people, a Pharisee, a woman with a sinful past, and Jesus.

Jesus showed His “inclusive” love when He went to the Pharisees’ home. (Luke 7:36) No Pharisee would have eaten in an enemy’s home.

The woman, with a sinful past, showed her “thankful” love when she washed Jesus’ feet. She washed His feet with her tears, dried them with her hair, and poured expensive perfume over them. (Luke 7:37-38)

The Pharisee showed his “lack of” love when he condemned both Jesus and the woman. (Luke 7:39) This man is a stranger to God’s kind of love and knows nothing of forgiveness and salvation.

Jesus said of the woman, “Her many sins are forgiven, for she loves much. He who has been forgiven little, loves little.” (Luke 7:47)
