Goats churn up the turf at Connally Cadet Invitational XC meet
It was one of the biggest cross-country meets this season, as approximately 150 plus runners competed from 20 high schools at the Waco Connally Cadet Invitational XC meet held this past Saturday.
Groesbeck sent both their varsity and junior varsity teams to the meet, with the varsity girls’ team finishing seventh out of 19 teams competing and the boys came in at No. 11 out of 20 teams participating.
Willow Johnson led the Lady Goats, finishing the girls race at No. 10 with her time of 13:29 on a course described by Groesbeck coach Lori Kelley as, “rough and hilly.”
Finishing just out of the top 20 on the day, but putting in strong finishes were Genesis Hibbard (14:24.00), Brianna Dobson (14:30.52), Jasmine Mora (14:46.93), Rylie Goodman (15:02.51), Raigen Archer (15:20.40), Maci Bozeman (15:44.61), Alivia Johnson (15:51.00) and Gabrielle Saldivar (16:52.43).
For the varsity Goats, Trey Hicks finished the course with a time of 19:28.04, followed by teammate Damian Roman-Reyes with a time of 19:36.35.
Randy Canady finished with a time of 20:33.67, Zachary Neumann came in at 20:34.93, Seth Wimberly crossed the finish line with a time of 21:01.99 and Tyler Lee completed the course in a time of 21:58.12.
