Goat JV drops close game to West JV
The Groesbeck junior varsity football team tried, but never could quite catch up to the visiting West Trojan junior varsity team at home last Thursday, October 19th. The game ended with West winning 26-16. In the fourth quarter though, it appeared that the young Goats might catch them and get their first win of the season. The Goats will be at Teague tonight for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
In the first half, West scored touchdown twice, but missed on its extra point attempts. Bradye Duncan ran in a short touchdown for the Goats. The Goats added a two point conversion on a pass from Artero Sotello to Wyatt Haston. They trailed 12-8 at the half.
West opened the third quarter by scoring on its first possession. The Trojans had a 42 yard run with 6:49 to go in the period. They missed again on their extra point try. A short kickoff out of bounds gave Groesbeck the ball at the West 46. Beau Pagel ran for 12 yards after catching a pass from Sotello to set up a first down at the Trojan 28. But the Goats couldn’t advance any further, A pass in the end zone was dropped.
