A look at Week 10 in Texas High School Football
Friday night will be do or die for a few area teams, as final playoff spots are on the line. For Bremond, regardless of the outcome of their game against the Dawson Bulldogs (1-3, 3-6), they have sewed up the No. 1 playoff seed in District 10-2A DII. The Mart Panthers (4-0, 8-1) will battle it out against the Bosqueville Bulldogs (4-0, 5-4) for the No. 1 and No. 2 playoff seeds, as both teams are undefeated in district play. In district 9-3A DI, the Groesbeck Goats need a win Friday night to secure the No. 4 playoff seed. Best of luck to all of our area teams!

Groesbeck: The Goats took care of the Elkhart Elks in dominant fashion last Friday night, shutting out their east Texas opponent, 49-0. Quarterback Ty Hale had an outstanding performance, completing 25 of 36 passes for 316 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Running back Ameer Lee led the Goat ground attack with nine carries for 61 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Ethan Davis hauled in 10 of Hales passes for 177 yards and scored three times, while fellow receivers Brandyn Canady caught eight passes for 71 yards and a TD and Dylan Rand finished the night with five catches for 55 yards and a score. Nick Moseley led the Groesbeck defense with eight total tackles, three of which went for losses and Brayden Bradley recorded seven total tackles with one for a loss. Jessie Salinas had four tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Whitney: The Wildcats led Eustace 13-9 at the end of the first quarter during last Friday night’s district matchup. But that was as good as it got for the Whitney team, as they were outscored the rest of the game, 44-6, falling to the Bulldogs in the end, 53-19. Players to watch will be QB Devin Wilson, WR Hunter Wilson, LB Sam Shorts, WR/DB Gage Hightower and RB Dantay Owens.
Summary: The Goats will honor their seniors this Friday night and they’ll be hungry for a win which will put them in the playoffs. Hale could have another big night in the passing department as well.
