Chamber Directors make decisions on 2018 banquet

Groesbeck Chamber Board of Directors held a regular monthly meeting on December 5.  Joan McEntyre served the directors and attendees a lunch as a thank you for her term as President of the Chamber. Ken Givens officially takes the chair in January.

The focus of the meeting was the planning of the always anticipated annual Chamber banquet. As previously reported, the theme of the banquet will be "A Night in TV Land". Chamber members interested are asked to commit to decorating a table into the theme of a TV show. The speaker of the banquet was announced and a full biography will be published in an upcoming Journal.

The chamber directors are still searching for items for the stretch ticket and silent auction. If you are interested in donating or for more information contact the Groesbeck Chamber, 254-729-3894.

The directors made decisions on many banquet choices. Awards to be presented and winners were determined and will be disclosed at a later date. The awards up for grabs are Business of the Year, Organization of the Year, Citizen of the year, Youth Citizen of the Year, Teachers of the Year and more... A new addition to the banquet this year is the Community Spirit Award. Be watching upcoming Journals for more information on these awards and their recipients.

In new business, the chamber directors contemplated on the canceling of the Spring Peddlers Market with consideration of making the Fall Holiday Market a two-day event. Chamber directors questioned how to better the Spring Peddlers Market and if having both events, but adding an extra day to the Fall Market, would be possible with space availability.  The discussion was tabled until further information could be obtained.

The next Groesbeck Chamber Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for January 9, 2018.

The Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce Membership Luncheon is scheduled for this Thursday, December 14.
