Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,
There is an average of about 30 murders daily in the United States and this deplorable murder rate is higher than the murder rate in some nations. Many of the murders in the United States are committed by the mentally deranged and criminals using automatic weapons that are designed for the massive destruction of human life.
Much could be done to reduce the murder rate. Sensible standards should be met in order to get a required license to buy, sell, use, or possess automatic weapons. Reasonable rules should be met in order to obtain the required permit to manufacture, sell, import, or donate automatic weapons. Many other actions could be taken that would require the adoption of sensible rules and vigorous enforcement. A more effective effort could be made in homes, schools, and religious organizations to encourage civility in human relationships.
Sincerely,
Dale Brown
