GROESBECK ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES NAMES FINALIST FOR SUPERINTENDENT
The Groesbeck Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees, at its December 13, 2017, meeting, named Dr. James Cowley in Calhoun County ISD, as the finalist for superintendent. By law, the Board must now wait 21 days before voting to hire Dr. Cowley. Dr. Cowley is slated to replace retiring Superintendent Dr. Harold D. Ramm.
The Board has followed a lengthy process in determining the finalist. In October, the Board hired Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to direct the search. A TASB consultant met with staff and community groups on October 24, 2017, to discuss desired characteristics of the new superintendent. The profile developed from these meetings was the yardstick used by the Board and consultants in evaluating the applicants for the position.
The Board selected six applicants for initial interviews. Three applicants were invited back for a second interview. With the second round of interviews completed, a committee of the Board visited Calhoun County ISD and reported back to the Board. The Board is scheduled to vote to offer a contract to Dr. Cowley on January 4, 2018.
Dr. Cowley has served as Superintendent of Calhoun County ISD since 2015; he oversees the business operations of the 4,000-student district.
