The two District 19-3A varsity basketball games at Groesbeck High on Friday, Jan. 12 could be summarized by saying that the big guns of the visiting Clifton Lady Cubs and the Clifton Cubs outshot those of the host Groesbeck Lady Goats and Goats. For the Lady Goats, it was Kennedy Cox pouring in 17 points in a 63-30 loss. But for the Lady Cubs, it was Sydney Harris contributing 19 points. For the Goats, it was Nick Mosley scoring 22 points. But for Clifton, it was Santos Murillo putting in 24 points as the Cubs edged past the Goats 57-54.

The Lady Goats remained winless in district as Clifton took charge early building a 12-2 edge after one quarter.  By halftime, the margin between the two teams had increased to 19 points as Clifton led 31-12. The third quarter was the closest in scoring as Groesbeck got 11 points to 12 points by Clifton for a 43-23 lead. The fourth quarter belonged to the Lady Cubs as they scored handily in a 20-7 outburst over Groesbeck for the final 33-point win.

In the game, Groesbeck got other scoring besides that of Cox from seven other players. Making four points was Kiera Anglin. Getting two apiece were Abby Johnson, Marlie Barber and Alexis Burns.
