Lady Goats pick up four wins in two days to start the season 5-0
After winning their district opener over the Bruceville-Eddy Lady Eagles Friday night at home, 8-0, the Groesbeck Lady Goats softball team picked up another three wins at the Gatesville Tournament on Saturday to move to 5-0 on the season. In Friday’s district opener, the Lady Goats jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning of play. Hallie Mitchell led off the inning with a single, then stole second and landed on third on a passed ball. Batter Emily Garza ended up getting on base with a walk to give Groesbeck runners at the corners. Garza moved over to second on a defensive interference. A few pitches later, Mitchell came in to score and Garza advanced to third on a wild pitch. Kennedy Cox grounded out to the first baseman, but it allowed Garza enough time to sprint into home for the second score of the game.
