Goats take Mildred, 53-6.

The Groesbeck Goats opened the 2020 season with a 53-6 win on the road over the Mildred Eagles. Coach Jerry Bomar of the Goats indicated that the offense would be special this season. Certainly, that was the case as sophomore quarterback Allen Lewis displayed a good passing attack connecting with Tyson Pringle and Brenden Morrow for some big gains including scoring plays. Lewis had good ground support from the rushing efforts of John Reed and Ma' Quay Smith.  Lewis was also effective with his feet keeping the Mildred defense at a distance with his runs. The Goat defense was also outstanding in keeping the Eagles out of Goat territory except for the 73-yard, 10-play drive late in the fourth quarter that allowed Mildred to avoid being shut out.
