10 a.m. to 9 p.m. — Veteran Partners of Texas is hosting Mudbugs for Heroes at Lazy S Ranch, located at 2352 LCR 486, Mexia. Vendors will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission for adults is $25, children 6-12 is $15, Veterans are $10, and kids 5 and under are free. Admission price includes a meal of crawfish, sausage, corn, and potatoes, and a drink or hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and more. Primitive camping spots are available. Live band Knot Today will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. This all-day event will include a silent auction, a live auction, a flag retirement ceremony, motorcycle games, playgrounds, kids activities, and karaoke. Takeout will be available with a minimum requirement. Food will be served from 11 a.m. until they run out.

6 p.m. — $10,000 drawing sponsored by the Limestone Medical Center Foundation at the Groesbeck Convention Center. Second prize is $750, Third is $500. This event is to raise funds for LMC medical equipment. Tickets are $100 each or $130 with insurance. Dinner for two will be provided with your ticket purchase, takeout will be available. Tickets can be purchased at Limestone Medical Center or through any LMC Foundation Board Member.

Noon — Please join us for the next Limestone Multi-Community ARC Coalition meeting at the AgriLife Extension Office, G-13, 200 W State St, Groesbeck, TX 76642. The meeting will begin promptly at noon and end at 1:00 p.m. to respect individuals' lunch times. Feel free to invite others. Thursday, May 2

1 p.m.  —  The Sterling C. Robertson Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of

Texas will meet at the new location, the Waco Chamber of Commerce Building,

located at 101 S. 3rd Street in downtown Waco. There is a meeting room

there and parking is available. DRT member Kelly Tyus will present “The Legacy of Robert Malone Tyus” who was her grandfather. This meeting is free and open to the public. Prospective members are encouraged to attend.

This is a free family-friendly event for all the community highlighting the many family history resources available in the area. Demonstration booths will be hosted by Carnegie History Center, the Brazos Valley African American Museum, the Texas Research Ramblers, the Descendants Group of the Star of the Republic Museum, the City of College Station’s Historic Preservation Committee and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

10:30 a.m. —  The Wilson Chapel Cemetery Association Memorial and Business Meeting will be held at the Wilson Chapel Cemetery which is located on FM 795 in Freestone County near Donie, TX. The meeting is open to all associated with WCCA and interested in the care of the cemetery.  Following the business meeting, all are welcome to enjoy a traditional picnic on the grounds under the pavilion and post oak trees.  Bring your own tables & chairs, along with your favorite potluck foods to share with family & friends. Thornton Homecoming, Rodeo, and Dance.  The rodeo will take place all three days. Entry is $12 per person but free for kids 10 and under. There will be a $1 fee for using a credit card. The youth rodeo will take place on Thursday. Live music will be provided by 45 South on Saturday night. The concert will be $20 per couple or $12 per person. 7 p.m. — Thornton Youth Rodeo with 24 event buckles and 8 all-around buckles with a 60% payout. Entries postmark due June 1 and no entries after June 7. Ground rules from THSRA and TJHSRA. Multiple events for leadline any age, 6 and under boys and girls, 9 and under boys and girls, 12 and under boys and girls, 16 and under boys and girls, team roping for 16 and under boys and girls, and breakaway roping for 19 and under girls only. All-around buckles will go to high point boy and girl plus a buckle for each event.
