Rubinell Pelham

Rubinell Pelham, from Groesbeck, entered her heavenly home on March 24, 2023, at the age of 92. She passed away at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 1: 00- 2: 00 p. m. at Groesbeck Funeral Home.

Funeral services will begin at 2: 00 p. m. on Saturday, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Ben Huebner of the First Methodist Church of Groesbeck officiating. Following the funeral, the burial will be in Faulkenberry Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Chad Pelham, Brian Scott Fleming, Jimmy Roe, and Chris Morton.

Rubinell had a loving and giving heart and loved her family and church. She was a member of the Groesbeck Women’s organization “ Wings.” She taught Sunday school for many years at the Groesbeck First Methodist Church, and she enjoyed doing secretarial work. She was a secretary at the Mexia State Supported Living Center, for a Groesbeck law firm, and for the First Methodist Church.

Rubinell married Jessie Oliver Pelham, on June 10, 1949, in the First Methodist Church of Groesbeck and they were married for 49 years. They started their own business in Groesbeck called “ Pelhams Garage and Parts House” and worked happily together as a team.

Rubinell was a member of the Cynthia Ann Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening and going to BoBo’s Nursery in Buffalo, Texas to buy flowers. She played cards ( Canasta ) and 42 dominoes every week with her friends. She loved crocheting and listening to music and enjoyed riding around with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Oliver Pelham; her parents, Elmer Newton ( Pete) Raborn and Ruby Allie ( Sadler) Raborn; her brother, Elmer Glen Raborn, and her granddaughter Krystal Kay Fleming.

Rubinell is survived by her son, Jimmy Pelham, and his wife Theresa Pelham, and her daughter, Karen Fleming, and her husband Jerry Fleming. She has three surviving grandchildren: Staci Priest, Scott Fleming, and Joshua Pelham, and four great- grandchildren: Katrina Priest, Jacob Pelham, Cassandra Pelham, and Jordan Lee Runnels.
