Alice was born August 26, 1932, to Pete and Myrle Peters in New York, where she grew up and continued to live until marriage.

Alice was united in marriage with Frederick “Fred” Decker, Jr. on September 2, 1951, in Elmira, New York. After they spent a short time in California looking for work, they moved to Arizona and settled in Phoenix. Alice was busy raising their 5 children and also working in the drycleaning business for years and cleaning houses for the public. She later worked for a printing company.

The family enjoyed life in Phoenix walking everywhere, to work, to the store, and to the courthouse lawn for picnics, until Fred obtained their first car. Then the family would load up and travel all over Arizona in his ’63 Rambler and make trips to New York to visit family in the Hudson or the DeSoto. Alice learned to cook authentic homemade Mexican food from the neighbors and that remained her specialty as well as homemade rolls. Alice was a member of the Baptist Church in Arizona. Alice and Fred and their three sons moved to Groesbeck, TX in 1977, where their daughter and son-in-law lived. She worked at Park Plaza Nursing Home and for Home Health services. She and Fred were members of the Bethel Baptist Church in Groesbeck.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings; son, Wayne Decker; daughter, Barbara Bennett; and her husband, Fred Decker, Jr. in 2022.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Noel of Groesbeck; son, Frederick Decker III of Groesbeck; son, Tommy Decker of Groesbeck; daughter-inlaw, Vera Decker of Waco; 6 grandchildren: Jeanne McClatchy and husband Rodney of Teague, Robert Noel, Jr. and wife Natasha of Thornton, Tommy Decker, Jr. of Huntsville, Allison Decker of Forest Glade, Vicki Bennett and husband Tim of New York and James Bennett of Iowa. She also had 7 greatgrandchildren and 7 greatgreat- grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Groesbeck LTC for their kindness and compassion for Mrs. Decker and more recently the Accent Hospice staff for their care.
