BILLY HENLEY

Billy Henley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on the morning of Sunday, September 23rd surrounded by his family. Billy was born on March 17, 1922 in Kosse, Texas to Persey W. Henley and Thelma S. Henley. He graduated from Kosse High School and attended the University of Houston. He spent three years in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. Billy began his career in the oil and gas industry and after working for several oil companies, he became an independent Professional Landman. He was a member of the HAPL and AAPL for many years and was Senior Landman of the Year in 2001. He is a member of Chapelwood Methodist Church, Holland Masonic Lodge for 60 years, Scottish Rite, and Arabia Shrine Temple. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, James Vernon Henley. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 72 years, Doris Laird Henley, his daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Henley Brown and her husband, Harvey Brown his three grandchildren, Joshua Brown and his wife Jennifer, Caroline Hallmark and her husband John, and Emily Brown, and four greatgrandchildren, Caleb, Grace, Hope, and Luke Brown. He is also survived by his sister Lavonne Collins and nieces and nephews that he loved. Billy dearly loved his family and always wanted to be with them. In lieu of flowers, Billy has requested, with gratitude, that donations be made in his name to: Shriners Burn Institute, 1112 Harborside Dr., Galveston, TX 77550, Chapelwood Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, TX 77024, or the charity of your choice. Interment will occur at Memorial Oaks Cemetery to be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 pm on Thursday September 27th, 2018 in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A Reception will follow.
