Brenda Kathryn Fox

Brenda Kathryn Fox (Nana and Bobbie to her grandchildren), of Groesbeck was carried by angels into the arms of Jesus on Feb. 11, 2023, as she was held in the arms of her beloved husband, Clifton Fox, at Providence Village Hospice Center in Waco. Her loving children surrounded her.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at the Church of Christ in Groesbeck, with Brother Richard Williams officiating.

Brenda Jones was born Jan. 2, 1955, in Dayton, Ohio, where she grew up. She was baptized into Christ to become a Christian in her early teens. She met the love of her life, Clif Fox, in the fourth grade. They were sweethearts throughout high school. Brenda’s faith in Christ led Clif to become a Christian in their teens. She was his angel of mercy from God.

Brenda and Clif were united in marriage as they entered college on Sept. 22, 1972. Early in life, she and Clif chose to serve Christ in ministry for the Church of Christ, and they both entered Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock. She served the Lord faithfully with him through college and during 40-plus years of ministry as a marvelous preacher’s wife. Her home hosted numerous church fellowship and teaching activities in Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida, Tennessee and Texas.

Brenda treasured being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She always made the holidays, birthdays, and other celebrations extra special for her children and grandchildren, which brought her so much joy. She was a loving homemaker. During the 10 years, her children were in elementary school. She was a full-time substitute public schoolteacher in Tennessee. While she was living in Groesbeck, Brenda prioritized being with her family, where they lived in Tennessee and Alabama, to attend every important occasion with her grandchildren that she could.

During her 50 years of marriage, Brenda’s home was a welcome place of help for those who were hurting or in need of a place to stay. She was a loving caregiver in her home for her Dad and Clif’s Dad for ten years until the very end of their lives.

Throughout her life (and in the past 10 years in the Groesbeck Church of Christ), she was a part of all the church’s ministries: taught Bible Classes, organized Ladies’ Day Events, youth rallies and Vacation Bible Schools, was a counselor and teacher in youth summer bible camps and served in funeral meals and wedding celebration meals. In her home, she conducted personal evangelism by teaching the lost. She was the perfect “preacher’s wife.” She was also a member of several civic clubs, including the Groesbeck Lion’s Club.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Tresia Jones; sister, Pam Jones; brother, Terry Weikert; and her fatherin- law and mother-in-law, Clifton Harry Fox and Charlotte Joan Fox, as well of many of Clif’s siblings and extended family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Clifton Fox, minister of Groesbeck Church of Christ; son, Nathan (Amberlee) Fox of Groesbeck; daughter, Amber (Adam) Wood of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter Taylar (Cody) Caldwell of Lexington, Tennessee; her brother, Tim (Sandy) Jones of Spring City, Tennessee; grandchildren Logan (Shelby) Fox and Corbin Fox; Lillie Wood and Kate Wood; and Liam Caldwell. Also, she has four sweet great-grandsons, Jace, Orion, Joshua and Jacob Fox; a sister-in-law, Kathy (Joe) Grilliot; brother-inlaw, Terry Harrington; many nieces and nephews; other extended family; and countless friends and brothers and sisters in Christ in her Church family.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Brenda through checks to Groesbeck Church of Christ, earmarked for Clif Fox – West African Ministry Training and Missions (in which Brenda was a supportive wife for Clif’s involvement and had intended to travel to Africa with him.)
