Brian Patrick Stewart
Brian Patrick Stewart, 41 of Groesbeck, Texas went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 20, 2021.
Visitation will be held at the Groesbeck Church of Christ on Friday, May 28 at 1:00 – 2:00 pm., followed by his funeral service at 2:00 pm., with Bro. Clif Fox officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Bush, Joseph Bush, Brandon Cates, Chad Cheshire, and Wesley Bush. Honorary pallbearers are the Elders and Deacons of the Groesbeck Church of Christ.
Brian was born April 5, 1980 to Lew Patrick Stewart and Cheryl Kinkaid Stewart in Palestine, Texas. As a young boy he loved playing with his cousins Jenny and Brandon Cates, along with friends John and Joseph Bush. They enjoyed many adventures together. He loved going to camp in the summer at Camp Crossfire sponsored by Churches of Christ and was selected as “Mr. Camp Crossfire.”
Brian became a Christian on August 29, 1993, when he was baptized by Bro. Richard Williams. Deut. 4:29. “You will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.” He attended Haskell Singing School where they taught him how to lead singing. He enjoyed music while playing in the high school marching band which was awarded All District Band, First Division Marching UIL, First Division Sight Reading UIL, First Division Concert UIL, Sweepstakes UIL. He won an Outstanding Musician Award 1997-1998 and an Interscholastic League Solo medal. He enjoyed playing his trombone and singing in the stage band. He participated in drama and was selected to receive the “Best Actor - One Act Play District Award”. Brian graduated from Groesbeck High School with the Class of 1998.
Brian moved to the Dallas area for a short time and worked at the Blockbuster Video. Then he left for the Houston area and worked at Best Buy. He lived with his best friend John Bush before John married Sarah. Sarah’s roommate was Shauna Cheshire who later became the love of Brian’s life.
Brian and Shauna were united in marriage on July 17, 2004 in Victoria, Texas. Their first home was in Conroe. Brian and Shauna became members of the Spring Woodlands Church of Christ. Brian held multiple jobs in Human Resources. Their first daughter, Audrey Marie Stewart, was born on May 27, 2008, followed by their second daughter, Kathryn (Katie) Ann Stewart, on October 30, 2011.
Brian enjoyed dressing up each year for the Texas Renaissance Festival with his family and best friends John and Sarah Bush. In 2015 Brian, Shauna and the girls moved to Groesbeck, where Brian later studied to become a minister by attending Sunset International Bible Institute Satellite School under the tutelage of Bro. Clif Fox. He was a dedicated student. With his family, he attended the Groesbeck Church of Christ where he was very active. He led JAM (Jesus and Me Program) for small children, taught junior high and high school Bible classes, taught singing classes, led congregational singing, preached sermons, worked as a counselor at Camp Crossfire, and took kids to Areawide Youth gatherings and Christian retreats. He helped with the Food Banks distributing to those of need. He also worked for the Groesbeck ISD helping troubled students. He participated in community activities which included the Groesbeck Lion’s Club and Blessings in October. He had a passion for painting figurines. He also loved watching all kinds of movies but had his favorite movies Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. However, his greatest joy was baptizing his daughter Audrey on November 13, 2019. III John 4. “I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.”
Brian has been preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Virginia Stewart; paternal grandfather, Charles Stewart; maternal grandfather, Charles Kinkaid; and Shauna’s father and mother, Robert and Debbie Cheshire.
He is survived by his wife, Shauna Stewart and daughters, Audrey Stewart and Katie Stewart, all of Groesbeck; mother, Cheryl Stewart of Arlington; father and stepmother, Lew and Sharree Stewart of Groesbeck; grandmother, Claire Kinkaid of Waxahachie; brother-in-law, Chad Cheshire; aunts, Shelley Stewart, Kimberly Cobb, and Joann Norris; uncle, Chuck Kinkaid; cousins and many other relatives in his large extended family; and his church family of not only the Groesbeck Church of Christ but in many other locations.
