Camryn Wayne Rose (Summey) “CamBam”

Camryn Wayne Rose (Summey), known by all as “CamBam,” passed away after a lengthy battle with his multiple health problems, on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at age 20, just a few days before he would have turned 21.

Funeral services are pending at this time.

Camryn was born in Mexia on April 11, 2000, and his parents are Leslie Ty Summey and Theresa Barrow Summey. He was raised in Groesbeck where he attended school until 2014. The family moved that year to Missouri, where CamBam had many friends (and a pretty girlfriend), and was a very active boy, playing basketball with the Amish kids at the YMCA, riding bikes, and skateboarding. He was ever a jokester. But after two months there, he became ill and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. His first brain surgery was in St. Louis, when he was 14. The family moved to Waco and then to Temple in 2016. With many other health problems which developed, Camryn has spent the past 6 years fighting for his life, with most of his days being a struggle.

CamBam was very close, in fact, best of friends, with his brothers and sisters, Kari, Michael and Sean, who were close to his age. He was also close with all of Ty’s children. The two youngest, Eli and Noah, enjoyed staying up all night with CamBam, coloring and watching cartoons. All the siblings were understanding of his illness and struggles.

CamBam had many happy days with his family including trips to Galveston and fishing at Port Aransas with his brothers and sisters and grandparents. He loved his PaPa’s cooking, especially the “crumb cake” cooked just for him. His Dad, Ty, always took him to the comic store across from the doctor’s office in Temple, after his doctor visits, to look at the comic books and buy some. Action comics were his favorite, especially the “Avengers.”

Three weeks ago, in advance of his upcoming 21st. birthday, his family took CamBam to the Casino in Oklahoma. He was especially thrilled to have won $500.00 on the machines (where he only spent $2.00) and enjoyed spending some of his winnings on clothes and comics. He also enjoyed a trip this past weekend to Galveston. The family is grateful for the pleasure he was able to enjoy during this time.

Cam Bam was preceded in death by his maternal greatgrandmother, Wanda Harper; paternal great-grandmother, Druscilla Barrow; paternal grandmother, Joan “Mamu” Summey; and paternal grandmother, Joan Rose.

He is survived by his mother, Theresa Summey and the father who has raised him, Leslie Ty Summey, and his biological dad, Mike Rose; his maternal grandparents, Samuel and Patricia Barrow; and paternal grandfather, Les Summey. His brothers and sisters are: Kari Rose, Michael Rose, and Sean Barrow (who were his closest friends); also, Tyler Summey, Dylan Summey, Breanna Lloyd, Eli Summey, and Noah Summey, with whom he also was close and enjoyed hanging out with them; and his half brothers and sisters: Kiara Rose, Ashton Rose, Kelsie Rose, Sydnie Franklin, Amanda Ibarra, and Christian Rose. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
