Cecil Johnson
Cecil Glenn Johnson, of Personville, Texas, passed away at his residence on Friday, October 8, 2021, at age 77. Cecil was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Cecil’s life will be held at Groesbeck Funeral Home on Saturday, October 23, 2021, beginning at 12:00 Noon.
Cecil was born April 29, 1944 to Floyd Lee Johnson and Vida Estelle Johnson in Lost Prairie, Texas. He attended school at Fair Oaks School through 8th grade then graduated from Mexia High School in the Class of 1962.
Cecil served in the U. S. Army from 1966 to 1968 in the Fourth Infantry. As a medic in the Vietnam War, he was able to help save the lives of many brave soldiers and in honor of his courageous actions he was awarded a Purple Heart.
He spent most of his life working in construction in Houston, Texas. As he began to get older his love for his hometown brought him back to the country. He always said he felt closer to God out in the pasture and with his cattle than anywhere else in the world.
Cecil and wife Rita, attended Freestone Cowboy Church in Teague, Texas. Cecil enjoyed working, watching westerns, helping friends and family and spending time with his beloved pets.
He was preceded in death by his infant son Jeffrey Johnson; parents, Floyd and Vida Johnson; brothers, Charles Johnson, Foy Johnson, and Floyd Johnson; and niece Amy Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Johnson; daughter Felisha Ragan; grandson, Silas Ragan; brother, Donald Johnson and wife Jo Ann; sister, Geneva Scott; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Johnson, Imogene Johnson, and Patsy Johnson; and nieces and nephews, Debra Burns, Barbara Johnson, Randy Johnson and wife Jean, Lisa Gothard and husband Paul, Michelda Brown, Brendon Johnson and wife Heidi, Lara Kimbrell and husband Patrick, Wade Harrison and wife Ginny, and Arik Harrison and wife Tiffany; and many greatnieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Billie Jean Evans; sisters-in-law, Nita Wright, Tina Lisenfelt and husband Doyle, Neva DeSpain and husband Curtis and niece Brandi Ranucci and husband Chris.
