Chad Michael Walker

Chad Michael Walker, of Groesbeck, passed away from his earthly home on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at age 38. His loved ones are joined by the entire Groesbeck and surrounding communities, as well as his fellow DPS Troopers and the entire brotherhood of law enforcement personnel, in mourning his tragic death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the Groesbeck High School Football Stadium, with the DPS Troopers standing as Honor Guard. Burial followed at LaSalle Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers were Pedro Barco, Jarrod Hardin, Murray Agnew, Brad Freeman, Ronny Snow, Marco Everett, Clayton Elmore, Bradley Turrubiarte, Ty DeCordova, Adam Fitte, Jordan Wietzikoski, Jonathon Boggs, and Doug Taylor (Grandpa).

Chad was born May 21, 1982, to Michael Lynn Walker and Brenda Kay Warren Walker at Corsicana. He grew up in Groesbeck and graduated from Groesbeck High School in 2000.

Chad enjoyed bass fishing in the Navasota River as a teenager, and in his boat on the river and Lake Limestone as an adult. Anything outdoors – hunting, fishing, his cows, and his kids, - were a pleasure to Chad. He grew up helping his grandfather, Dennis, with cattle and was proud of his own Beefmaster herd.

Chad began a career in law enforcement in 2003 at Athens Police Department, and then served with the Groesbeck Police Department, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, and Department of Public Safety.

Chad joined the Department of Public Safety in 2015 and was stationed in Groesbeck. He was very involved in community activities in both Limestone and Freestone counties and was on the Limestone County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

Chad was joined as one, to be married for life, with Tobie Taylor on September 22, 2018, at Axtell. They lived in Groesbeck with their children and their baby daughter, Tulsa June, who was born two months ago.

Chad was a Christian, worshiping at Living Proof Church in Groesbeck. After Chad’s life of service to his family, friends, and the public, he has given the ultimate gift through the donation of his organs to help keep others alive.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Pete and Opal Warren and Chad and Tobie’s angel baby.

Chad is survived by his wife, Tobie Walker; son, Ethan Walker; twin daughters, Rylee and Charlee; 2 month old daughter, Tulsa June Walker, all of Groesbeck; his parents, Mike and Brenda Walker of Groesbeck; paternal grandparents, Dennis and Barbara Walker of Groesbeck; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in honor of Chad to any of the following: Trinity Oaks Fallen Officers Foundation (9385 Miller Lane, San Antonio, TX 78266); or the Kailee Mills Foundation (https:// www.kaileemillsfoundation. org); or St. Jude Children’s Hospital (1-800-478-5833, or 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105); or any organization of your choice or the Living Proof Church, Groesbeck.
